Who is Kim Effiom?

Kim Effiom, a Dallas native, is the wife of Rev. George Effiom, Senior Pastor of the United Christian Fellowship of Arlington. Together they have 4 children, Kendrick, Tynee, Laura, and Lauren and 4 grandchildren, Jordon, Kadence, Cailee, and Yoshima. In her church, Kim faithfully serves in various ministries including the Children’s Department, the Drama Ministry, the Music Department, and the Women’s Fellowship.

Kim’s Education

Kim is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School of the Performing Arts in Dallas, where she was a part of the music and drama cluster. She has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Education with a minor in Music from Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas, and a Master of Education (M. Ed) degree in Education Administration from Concordia University in Austin, Texas. She is a career educator, having served in various schools and capacities in the Dallas area for 28 years.

Kim’s Music

Kim has been a singer since the age of 7. Her gift of singing has been evident from her childhood years when she often represented her church, New Birth Baptist Church, at the Dallas Regional District Association’s annual “Youth for Christ Night” services. Over the years, she has received many accolades for outstanding musicianship as well as the remarkable agility, strength and warmth of her voice in performances throughout the state of Texas. She is a winner of the Texas Gospel Music Excellence New Artist Showcase Award for her remix of “God Will Take Care of You”. Her new CD, My Father’s Heart, an outpouring of her deep love of God, is a compilation of 10 songs reflecting her expansive gift across musical styles in the gospel music genre. The album is available for download on all music platforms, such as Amazon Music, iTunes, and Google Play.

Kim’s great gift of singing and passion for music has also led to an accomplished career as a choir director. She served as choir director at the great New Birth Baptist Church in Dallas for 10 years, during which time she had the privilege of teaching and leading a song at the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA). She has served as choir director at United Christian Fellowship of Arlington for the past 11 years, and recently had the privilege of directing a 300-member mass choir at the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s North America Convention, with more than 10,000 people in attendance and a worldwide broadcast audience.

Kim also enjoys writing plays, and has written and directed 4 original plays and adapted 2.
