The Blame Game

James 1:13

“Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.”

Now this is a good one, many times we blame God for the horrific things in our lives, but His word clearly states that God does not bring about temptation or hurt. Now He does allow things to happen in our lives. When He allows things to happen, you must stop and ask yourself, “What was God’s purpose in allowing this thing to occur in my life?” God has a purpose for the things that happen in our lives, but it is our job to walk through the journey being aware that God has a purpose for me, so what is it? His purpose could be to prune you, so you can grow. His purpose could be to bless you like He did Joseph. There is a lot to learn from the Joseph story like forgiveness is one but the other is when God has a purpose for you, you walk in it no matter what. Can you imagine going from your father’s favorite, to a slave, to the head of his slave master’s estate, to a prisoner, and finally to the ultimate blessing of being an interpreter of dreams and viceroy, which is second in command of a whole nation. That is a lot, but sometimes God allows certain things to come into your life so he can bless you to be a blessing to others.

So don’t go around blaming God for anything, just praise Him and serve Him for His presence in your life. Thank Him for His grace and mercy. Thank Him for being a covenant keeping God. Thank Him because He never slumbers or sleep. Thank Him for the good and the bad. Also do not be afraid to ask Him to reveal His purpose for you in that situation.

We serve a great God who only wants a relationship with you. He does not want to harm you and make you do unthinkable things. He wants you to grow, thrive and ultimately be with Him when He decides to come for His church.

I don’t know about you but I gave up the blame game and the pity parties and started walking in His purpose for my life, no matter how He chooses to orchestrate my life. I pray you can say the same.

Be blessed!
